📜 Historical Background
Babulnath Temple dates back to the 12th century, making it one of Mumbai’s oldest surviving temples.
The original Shiva lingam was believed to have been discovered beneath a babul (acacia) tree, which gave the temple its name.
The temple was later rebuilt in the 18th century after periods of neglect during colonial expansion.
